Imagine a fenced-in park where you can let your dog off leash to romp and socialize with other dogs and their people! Near running trails and neighborhoods, a dog park would add to Crozet recreational opportunities.
Albemarle County Parks & Recreation has identified a 1.75 acre parcel of land adjacent to Crozet Park. The land, which sits beside the lower baseball field at Crozet Park, is ideally suited for the dog park, with hardwood trees, water, and several established trails for easy access to and from the park.

$34000 seems a steep price to fence in 1.75 acres. What expenses are there other than the fence and gates?
In a nutshell, the dog park includes these items: Two fenced-in and double-gated areas totaling an acre: one for small dogs, one for big. Careful clearing and landscaping of the area to keep hardwoods intact and manage the water (creek) that flows through the site. A small bridge may need to be built. Connecting to the county water supply to fill water bowls for the dogs. Picnic tables, benches, and signage. Poop bag dispensers.
